We promote the realisation of ethical principles and human rights in research activities

Association for Research Ethics and Integrity Finland (AREIF) has been established to promote good scientific practice, research ethics, and research integrity.

We raise awareness of European principles of research ethics, provide peer support in procedures related to suspected violations of good scientific practice, and advocate for academic freedom and fundamental rights. We organize seminars, engage in research, development and innovation RDI activities, and act as an expert voice in public debate. We operate as networked expert community throughout Finland. We warmly welcome international researchers, experts, and higher education students to become members of our association.

1. Name and Domicile of the Association

The name of the association is Tutkimusetiikan ja integriteetin yhdistys ry (Association for Research Ethics and Integrity) and its domicile is Joensuu.

2. Purpose and Nature of Activities

The purpose of the association is to:

  • Promote expertise in research ethics and research integrity, as well as compliance with responsible conduct of research at all levels of education, teaching, research, and publishing activities.
  • Raise awareness of and implement the European guidelines: The European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity.
  • Act as an expert network and a connecting link for individuals and communities working to enhance the reliability of research and knowledge, or who have encountered violations of responsible conduct of research or scientific misconduct.
